The strongest planet explanations are not guesses. They are checks against time, location and direction. A report that says “a bright light was low in the west at 19:10 from near Darmstadt” can be compared with a sky chart for that location and moment. A sky chart does not prove that every report is Venus. It narrows the claim. If the alleged object was far from any bright planet or star, moved rapidly across a large part of the sky, changed direction independently, appeared on radar, or was observed by trained witnesses with good reference points, a planet explanation may weaken.
