This is the kind of sighting that can make a sincere person sound more dramatic than the event was. Venus and Jupiter are not obscure objects, but their appearance can feel wrong if the viewer does not expect them. Two brilliant points near each other can suggest paired aircraft, drones, lamps or a structured object. If the viewer watches from a city street, through buildings or cloud gaps, the scene may lack enough reference points to make the answer obvious.

Astronomical bodies are a long-running source of UFO reports because they are bright, silent and apparently purposeful. Photographs can create a second sighting
